The records keep tumbling for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the first Madridista to score a total of nine goals in three straight matches. Di Stefano and Barinaga had held the club record at eight.
Ronaldo scored four goals against Sevilla, three against Getafe and two versus Villarreal. Never before had a Madridista scored nine goals in three straight matches, with Di Stefano and Barinaga coming the closest with eight apiece. The Blond Arrow’s streak dates back to Weeks 20 through 22 of the 1960/61 season, while Barinaga’s to Week s 24 to 26 in 1944/45.

REAL MADRID TOP SCORERS IN THREE CONSECUTIVE LEAGUE GAMES

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada 4
Barinaga 1944/45 Real Madrid 8-0 Sabadell 3 8
Murcia 3-5 Real Madrid 3
Real Madrid 4-1 Sporting 2

Numbers of the likes of those put up by Ronaldo over the last three league matches hadn’t been seen in 59 years. No footballer since the competition was created has scored more than nine; meaning Cristiano has pulled even with Sevilla’s Campanal (1940/41), Valencia’ Mundo (1942/43) and Barcelona’s Kubala (1951/52).

Cristiano's 38 goals in La Liga this season are equivalent to the best percentage in the run for the Golden Boot award since the creation of the points system in 1996/97. Each goal in the Spanish, German, English, Italian and French leagues is multiplied by two; while strikes in the Austrian, Belgian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Scottish, Greek, Dutch, Israeli, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Czech, Russian, Serbian, Swiss, Turkish and Ucranian championships count for one. In the likely event that the final  ranking is the same as the actual one, Cristiano will become the second Real Madrid player to win the Golden Boot. The first was the legendary Hugo Sanchez in 1989/90 with 38 goals.
